Hello, my name is Jennifer and I am a qualified Psychodynamic Therapeutic Counsellor and registered member of the BACP ethical body, based in Crawley, West Sussex.
Who I work with
Based in Crawley, offering open-ended therapy to adults and young people in a safe, welcoming and non-judgemental environment.
I work with a range of emotional and psychological difficulties, including anxiety, depression, bereavement and loss, intrusive thoughts, low self-esteem, anger, disordered eating, sexuality and identity issues, the complexity of masculinity and male identity, experiences of sexual abuse, and Borderline Personality Disorder.
I have a particular interest in supporting men who may be struggling with anxiety, emotional wellbeing, relationships, identity, anger, shame or a sense of disconnection. Many men have learned to cope alone or find it difficult to talk about what they are experiencing. Therapy can provide a space to explore these challenges openly, develop greater self-awareness and build a more meaningful relationship with yourself and others.

How I work
I often describe therapy as painting a picture of your life.
Who are the characters in it? How do you feel about them?
What relationships do you value? How do you value yourself?
Once the landscape of your life has been painted, we can begin to gently explore examine that landscape together.
We will become curious about anything and everything:
Where the beliefs, the thoughts and the feelings come from?
How beneficial to you are they? How true are they?
Or are they beliefs you once held, but now understand differently?
This exploration of yourself and your life may bring many different emotions. At times, you may even feel angry with me. I encourage honesty within our therapeutic relationship, and together we can gently explore these feelings too.
Often, what happens within the therapeutic relationship can mirror what may also be happening outside of the therapy room. Let us remain curious about all of it. Together, we can begin to change the landscape within the painting.
How Therapy works
Therapy can sometimes feel challenging, but it can also create space for deeper understanding, emotional relief and lasting change.
Our appointment will take place on the same day and time each week unless agreed otherwise.
Exceptions can be made if you work rota shifts.
The appointment is for 50 minutes and starts and finishes at the same time.
It is important that you know before we start that counselling is not about instant results; it can sometimes even feel like hard work.
Therefore, we would ask that you are committed to the work, to yourself so that we can be curious about what is really going on for you and how you truly feel.
Taking the first step towards therapy can feel difficult.
I offer a compassionate and grounded space where you can begin exploring your experiences safely and at your own pace.
